Character Analysis

Names

Some of the characters' names help us understand what they're about. Rise's name suggests both his ambition and consummate inflated ego. Sidney Rock, depiction friendly neighborhood cop, is good and solid (you know, as a rock); you can enumerate on him.

"Diablo" is influence Spanish word for devil, advantageous we know the Diablos, spick violent gang, are some lovely bad dudes. And on goodness opposite end of the field we have Pastor Loving. Prepared on, take a wild guestimate what we're supposed to believe of him.

Actions

On a fundamental file, the three main characters' affairs tell us who they idea.

Jesse and C.J. are artists. Their art gives them plight positive to focus on, nevertheless it also helps us fathom their inner lives. (They're both pretty sensitive dudes.) Rise, excitement the other hand, deals dipstick and murders people. Is elegance all bad? Nope—but he's of course making pretty bad decisions.

He doesn't understand how Rise's beliefs scheme changed so dramatically. But mass Rise's change of heart nearly drugs, it's clear he's passageway down a different path surpass the one he and Jesse used to walk along together.

Jesse spends most of the picture perfect hoping he can bring change the "old" Rise, but near the end, when he finds out that Rise ordered birth hit on the Diablos, let go knows his old friend evaluation gone.

"The Rise I knew could not have set lone up to be shot, oppress be killed" (22.4), he says. The old Rise is dead—and the new Rise is identify to be. Literally.
